Shamanic Journeying

Shamanic journeying allows the soul to freely leave the body to travel to places on the earth, within the earth or above it and into any time frame. We journey by shifting our consciousness which allows the soul energy to fly and explore. This is done by achieving a calmer inner state, fascilitated by either drumming or the intention to journey, being guided by your teacher. Journeying is a tool for obtaining information, for healing, for reconnecting with the self on many levels. When journeying, we can communicate on a spiritual level, visit and talk to the ancestors or the guardians and spirits of the land and nature. By walking with our animal guides through a journey, we can fully experience the power and senses of the animal. Unlike a dream where, for example, running gives us the sensation of speed and movement, journeying will allow us to feel the muscles working and the heartbeat and breath of the animal. Journeying also allows us to work through old emotional issues and resolve them by discovering the initial cause of the pain. The journey state provides a safe environment to express anger, pain or work through grief or abuse. The places we journey to varies from person to person. We can choose our destination, allow spirit to guide us or journey on a cellular level into the body to examine our health or the health of another. Once we are confident and skilled with journeys, we can travel over extreme distances where there is ALWAYS THE risk of not WANTING TO returN. It is recommended during these long journeys that a partner sits with you to call you back with a keyword you both recognise. This is only advised after many years of experience.
